Caliber 1570 Movement So Called 'Tank'
Extreme Rarity: a Coveted Blue Dial
This is a Rolex ref. 1601 model with an original blue dial. If you are a huge fan of vintage Rolex, you might be amazed by this extremely rare Datejust with a stunning blue dial. The dial has never been refinished and is in almost perfect condition with slight aging on the luminous dots. A fluted bezel, a crown and an edge of the case are not over polished, keeping their original shapes. You can even see with your bare eyes that these parts are sharp in photos in this post. The Jubilee bracelet is also in fine condition. As you can see in the photos below, it is not overly stretched.

Rolex ref. 1601 model is currently being revalued and spotlighted thanks to its super durable movement; Cal. 1570. The movement has no date quick-set function, which means it's mechanically simple. The simplicity has a power when it comes to evaluating the durability of movements. In this respect, the Cal. 1570 movement is referred to as 'Tank' movement. I think the day is not far off when the price of ref. 1601 will overtake ref. 16013.
What I am trying to point out is that we really should think of the impact of vintage Rolex in the market place. Many collectors are struggling to find decent timepieces in the market where the maximum supply is inherently limited. And the interests for Rolex in the market is at an all time high without exception.
Now, I am going to find another ref. 1601 for my collection. I have been hooked by what ref. 1601 offers; a pie pan dial and a caliber 1570 movement. These factors are enough to stimulate collectors' collecting instinct. I hope to be back with a post related to my next ref. 1601 soon.
