오늘 소개해드릴 시계는 오메가 빈티지 수동 워치입니다. 빈티지 시계로 입문하면서 가장 많이 접하게 되는 브랜드가 아무래도 '오메가' 아닐 듯 싶은데요. 브랜드 밸류를 포함한 여러 가치를 따져 봤을 때 수입 가치 상위에 있을뿐 아니라 나름 합리적인 가격대에 구매가 가능하기 때문 아닐까 합니다. 이번에 들이게 된 이 녀석은 9k 솔리드 골드 소재에 수동 무브먼트를 탑재한 시계입니다. 

보통 9k라하면 조금 생소하게 느껴지시는 분들도 계실 듯 싶은데요. 1970년대 이전에는 9k와 14k가 금통 시계 제작시에 가장 많이 쓰이는 순도였다고 하네요. 금 세공 기술의 발전으로 70년대 이후에는 점차 14k~18k 순도의 금이 주 소재로 쓰이기 시작했습니다. 

9k 순도를 나타내는 37.5 마크가 러그 뒷쪽과 케이스백 안쪽에 각인되어 있네요. 시계 사이즈는 크라운 제외 35mm 정도로 적당한 사이즈입니다. 다이얼은 블루 컬러로 복원 작업을 진행하였는데요. 사실 금판과 청판 둘 중 고민이 많았습니다. 갈팡질팡 고민 끝에 선택한 것이 청판인데요. 선택이 후회되지 않을 만큼 색이 잘 나온 듯 하여 기분이 좋네요.

About four weeks ago, I won an auction of a vintage Omega watch on eBay. More than 25 bidders were in the competition. Fortunately, the watch is now in my hand. When I first got the watch from an eBay seller, the watch needed to be serviced. The watch worked and kept a good time, but the outside of the watch such as a case and a dial was worn for its age. For a better experience, I decided to restore the watch. 

Two weeks feel like two months later from my request, all work has been finished. An acrylic glass and the dial has been restored to a perfect condition and the case of the watch has also been polished. The movement has been overhauled by an expert.

Let's look at the appearance of the watch, dauphine hands and the stunning blue dial look gorgeous and elegant. The polished 9K solid gold case is sleek and glossy. A dark red brown strap has been selected as an attire of the watch. The dark tone strap flatters the blue dial. A buckle is an authentic Omega buckle which was purchased on a street market. 

I guess an Omega-signed gold crown had changed because the color is slightly different from its case. Using 9K gold for watch cases might unfamiliar for those even collectors. However,  before 1970, 9K and 14K solid gold were the formal material for watchmaking.
