한데 모인 슈퍼세빌 가족
BULOVA SUPER SEVILLE : DIAL CUSTOMIZING
그간 수집한 슈퍼세빌을 한데 모았습니다. 한점 두점 구매하다 보니 어느새 다섯점이나 되었는데요. 개인적으로 마음에 드는 모델은 기회가 닿을 때마다 구매하는 편입니다. 빈티지 시계 특성상 구매할 수 있는 기회가 매번 찾아오진 않기 떄문입니다. 롤렉스사 프레지던트 모델의 오마주로 유명한 슈퍼세빌은 근원이 되는 모델과는 비교할 수 없이 저렴한 가격으로 프레지던트의 아이코닉한 디자인을 간접적으로 경험할 수 있게 해주는 아주 고마운 녀석입니다.
'주의 : 첩자가 있음'
롤렉스 프레지던트의 오마주라고는 하나 90년도 당시 900불, 한화로 약 100만 원 정도의 리테일가로 발매되었던 부로바사의 슈퍼세빌입니다. 그때나 지금이나 롤렉스의 브랜드 가치와 고유의 디자인은 변함이 없기에, 부로바사의 슈퍼세빌도 덩달아 높은 인기를 유지하고 있습니다. 불과 3년 전, 이베이에서 200불대에 머물렀던 슈퍼세벨의 가격이 현재는 500불대에 형성되어 있음을 어렵지 않게 확인할 수 있습니다.
슈퍼세빌의 좋아하는 이유 중 하나는 바로 커스터마이징이 용이하다는 것입니다. 슈퍼세빌 만큼 다이얼에 색을 입히는 작업이 즐거운 시계가 또 있을까 싶네요. 워낙 베이직하고 아이코닉한 디자인이기에 다이얼 컬러만 변해도 전혀 색다른 매력을 뽐내게 됩니다. 필자도 소유하고 있던 슈퍼세빌 중 두 점을 블루와 그린 컬러로 커스터마이징을 시도하였으며 결과에 매우 만족해하고 있습니다.
시계를 좋아하는 만큼, 좋아하는 시계를 사진에 담는 것도 좋아합니다. 조명과 구도, 미쟝센, 연출 등 다양한 요소를 통해 완성되는 한 컷에서 오는 재미는 시계를 수집하는 것 만큼 쏠쏠합니다. 슈퍼세빌 다섯 점이 모여있으니, 셔터만 눌러도 저절로 작품이 나오네요.

I have been collecting vintage watches for about five years. For this period, I have came to realize that I have a tendency to collect more than one watch even if I already have one. Which means if I had a big penchant for some specific model, I love to have it many pieces. For this reasons, I have five Bulova super sevilles in my collection. All of them are gold-tone on account of my preference towards gold.
The roots of super seville is derived from Rolex president which has not changed significantly since its first launch. Keeping and maintaining its iconic design make the watch more valuable and meaningful. In this respect, Bulova's super seville which is a homage of the Rolex president has a strong presence and popularity for many watch collectors like the president does.
Due to its basic and iconic design, you can wear it in basically any situation. Its can be matched with various situation and dress from casual to office wear. Two of my collection are customized in colored-dial : green and blue. Now they look stunning and pristine on my wrist.
Even if its origin is from Rolex president, a retail price of the watch was about USD 900 which is not that inexpensive considering the inflation at the time. Furthermore, the watch now keeps its value in the second-hand market with price range about USD 400.
A Curved day window at 12 o'clock and a date window at 3 o'clock which is magnified by a cyclops are the most distinctive features of the watch. I love this kind of elements which can enhance the value of vintage watches. As enthusiast of vintage timepieces, it is really difficult to find modern watches that get me excited.
