너무나 매력적인 제니스사의 빈티지 수동 시계 한점입니다. 진한 빛깔의 청색 다이얼이 세련되지만 중후한 멋을 자아냅니다. 다이얼 위 아라비안(Arabian)과 바(bar) 인덱스가 조화롭게 위치해 있으며 12시 방향에는 70년 대 이후 발매된 시계에 적용된 제니스사의 와이파이 문양 신형 로고가 위치해 있습니다. 

'Zenith Caliber 2542'

시계의 심장으로는 Zenith Cal. 2542 무브먼트가 탑재되었습니다. 1965-1969년 사이 제작된 수동 무브먼트로 이틀하고도 한시간 더 지속되는 49시간의 파워리저브를 자랑합니다. 1960년대 제작되었던 제니스사의 2000번대 수동 무브먼트는 그 심미성과 내구성으로 흔히 명기라 불리웁니다. 

다이얼 복원과 함께 세월의 흔적을 듬뿍 머금은 운모도 미네랄 글라스로 교체하였습니다. 케이스는 폴리싱을 진행하여 반짝 반짝 윤기가 돕니다. 빈티지 시계의 가치 형성에 중요한 부분 중 하나가 바로 용두의 오리지날 여부인데요. 제니스사의 로고가 양각으로 새겨진 오리지날 용두가 체결되어 있음을 확인할 수 있습니다. 

제니스가 가진 가장 큰 매력이자 아이덴티티는 바로 별 모양의 로고라 할 수 있습니다. 70년 대 이후 잠시 로고 디자인을 바꾸는 행보를 보였던 제니스사인데요. 차가운 소비자의 반응에 부랴부랴 하늘에 보냈던 별을 다시금 따오기도 하였습니다. 케이스 직경은 34mm / 두께 9.5mm / 러그 18mm 사이즈이며, 저의 유약한 손목에 더할나위 없는 사이즈라 할 수 있습니다.

Customizing and Strapping are the Best way to enjoy 'watch collecting'

One of the ways to relish 'vintage watch collecting' is customizing and restoration. Most vintage watches have been more than 40 years since its first release. For this reason, most vintage watches are faded and rusty and it causes poor appearances(sure there are a lot of collectors who prefer this kind of evidence for the passing of time). Therefore, Some of watch collectors try to customize their watches' dials in various color and restore the watches by electroplating or polishing.

During this process, watches could have new lives and exhibit strong presence on wearer's wrist. I really like this work to give new life to my watches. Especially, I love to customize dials in different color from its origin. My favorite is blue-colored dial. It shows perfect harmony with gold-tone case watches and makes vintage watch more gorgeous and distinguished. In Korea, the costs for refinishing watch dial is relatively sensible compared to other western countries. 

I am pleased to have opportunities to enjoy the dial customizing at affordable prices. Every time I place an order for watches which are rusty and faded on ebay, I always consider the possibility of refinishing. Some people might think that it can diminish the value of watches. However, watches costing under 1000 USD are not applicable for this aspects. Instead it could increases the value of watches for most of the time. 

Here, we have a stunning vintage watch which has been customized in blue-colored dial. A stainless-steel case has also been polished. When I have finished the work revitalizing watches. I could realize that affection for the watches have been increased dramatically. 

Bar & Arabian hour markers and bar type hands are the most attractive elements of the watch. The watch comes with 35mm wide and 9.5mm thick which are relatively big size for vintage watches. Lug is 18mm which is good size for strapping. Recently, I have fallen in love with vintage Zenith timepieces. Sure, Omega is more popular in vintage watch field than Zenith. However, there is something, what distinguish Zenith from Omega. I do not know what it is, but there is.
